This is a video from every step calculus.com demonstrating how my programs work on a TI89 Titanium calculator and other calculators in the ti system for physics and calculus problems how to use my programs to derive the quadratic formula and let’s get started you press second alpha to enter the i n d e x letters in the entry line here and then press alpha to put the eight and the open and closed parenthesis press enter and you’re into my menu. You can scroll up like this go to the bottom of the menu or you can come from from the top down they’re all alphabetical and so we’re going to go to the quadratic formula here and there it is quadratic formula. I give you a little definition of it you write this down on your paper right away or test the ah formula for it and you enter the variables let’s enter ahh you have to push alpha before you enter anything into these entry lines of my programs so we’re going to put alpha minus fifteen and alpha six and alpha eight. I always show you what you enter so you can change it in case you’ve made a mistake I say it’s ok we’re going to do the quick answer here and notice that we put the variables in the actual formula here you write this right on your paper here just as you’re doing the problem and I come up with the answer this is the exact answer and this is the approximate answer exact and approximate for the two values of x.
